How to Reach
Bagdogra International Airport is the nearest airport to New Jalpaiguri which is 14 km away and is connected to all major airports in India. We recommend taking early morning flights or reaching the day before the trek starts. From there you can book a cab or board a bus for NJP.
The New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) has excellent train connectivity and there are several trains coming from Kolkata. Usually, the majority of the trains reach NJP by early morning. From Kolkata, you can board, Darjeeling mail, Padatik Express, Vande Bharat Express, and many more.
NJP is well connected by roads and National Highways are built for smooth connectivity. You can easily reach NJP by road but you need to come a day before the trek starts from NJP. The distance from Kolkata to Njp is 587b km and will take around 10 – 11 hours to reach.

Our North Sikkim tour was our first adventure at such a high altitude, and it turned out to be an experience of a lifetime. First and foremost, I am immensely grateful to my colleague, whose encouragement and meticulous planning made this journey possible. The unparalleled natural beauty of North Sikkim left me speechless, with Lachung standing out as an absolute gem. Along with that, the breathtaking landscapes of Yumthang Valley and Zero Point were nothing short of magical, their snow-clad expanses stretching as far as the eye could see. But the true highlight was Gurudongmar Lake—the vast, barren land surrounding the pristine blue waters created a sight so surreal that I found myself lost in its tranquility. On our way back, we had hoped to catch a glimpse of Kanchenjunga from Ringhim, but the unpredictable mountain weather had other plans. Even so, every part of the journey was worth it, including the night bus ride, which, despite its challenges, became a story etched into my memory. What made this trip even more special was the seamless arrangements by Altitude Adventure Holidays, our knowledgeable and supportive guide, and the wonderful camaraderie of my fellow travelers. North Sikkim"s rugged beauty, its ever-changing landscapes, and the warmth of the people have left an imprint on my heart, and I know this will not be my last journey to these incredible mountains.- Tania Routh
