Let's trek to a land closest to Trishul where you can literally stand in its shadow!!!
There are many treks in the Himalayas where you can have spectacular views of the mighty mountains. But there is only one trek where both Mt Nanda Ghunti and Mt Trishul will be your constant companions. Yes, that’s what Brahmatal Trek is for you and the best part is that it can be done in many seasons, especially as a winter trek.
Brahmatal trek and the Roopkund trek are the only two that will give you the best views of Trishul Massif and Nanda Ghunti. But what sets Brahmatal apart is it can be done in winter months as a snow trek as well. So if you want to get a feel of a snow-covered wonderland in winter months then you should do this trek in winter. This Himalayan landscape looks completely wrapped up in a white sheet of snow with bright blue skies and a splendid view of the high Himalayan mountains. The peaks that you can see clearly from the top of the Brahmatal Trek are Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Bethartoli Himal, Bethartoli South, Neelkanth, Chaukhamba, Bandarpoonch, Kamet, and Hathi Ghodi Parvat.
Not only great views of the high Himalayan mountains but the trail is also worth exploring. From walking through dense rhododendron forests to witnessing high-altitude alpine lakes, this trek has a plate full of happiness. The icing on the cake is that during winter months the lake is completely frozen which gives an enchanting look. So it won’t be wrong if we say that this celestial lake is a hidden gem that is beautifully hidden in the Himalayan meadows.
If you are lucky you can also get a glimpse of a variety of wildlife during this trek – Himalayan Fox, Baragsingha, Monal which is the state bird of Uttarakhand, Himalayan Goat, and Ibex. Monal is absolutely one of the most beautiful birds with its rainbow colour palette. The lake is also surrounded by Himalayan trees of Rhododendron, Deodar, Khorsu, and Thuner. You can even see the trail of the famous Roopkund trail from the top. Brahmatal is also the home to some rare bird species and it is here only you will be able to see oak trees that are centuries old.
Not only Brahmatal Lake has beautiful landscapes but it is also full of rich Indian history steeped in Hindu Legends and Mythology. It is believed that the lake got its name from the Hindu Lord Bramha who is the creator and he has meditated beside this lake and hence the name Brahmatal was given. The word ‘Bramha’ comes from Lord Bramha and ‘Tal’ means lake. It dates back to ancient history many years back when Lord Bramha performed a sacred yajna at this location and the place where the fire was lit, now a temple has been built which is known as the Brahmatal Temple still worshipped by the devotees. According to another folklore, it is also believed that Lord Brahma created this lake because while writing the Vedas here in the meadows he needed pure water to turn the pages.
So from walking through long ridgelines, complete 360° breathtaking views of collosal Himalayan peaks of the Garhwal region, and expansive meadows, Brahmal Trek is absolutely every trekker’s delight undeniably.

The Brahmatal trek was nothing short of a winter wonderland experience! From the very first step, I was captivated by the snow-covered trails winding through dense oak and rhododendron forests, leading to the breathtakingly frozen Bekaltal and Brahmatal Lakes. It was my honeymoon trek with my loved one. Walking on the crisp snow with the Himalayan peaks of Nanda Ghunti and Trishul I & II towering in the background felt surreal. Reaching the summit and witnessing the panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas was the most rewarding moment of the trek. The entire experience was flawlessly organized. The campsites on the snow covered valley were close to my heart. Chilling night added an extra thrill to my journey. The sunset over the pine forest made a beautiful twilight. Watching the sunrise paint the snow-capped peaks in golden hues was a sight I will cherish forever. This trek was not just an adventure—it was pure magic for me, and I can’t wait to explore more with Altitude Adventure Holidays!- Sayantani Basu

The Brahmatal Trek was truly an unforgettable experience! The trail is relatively moderate but offers some truly stunning panoramic views, especially at the summit. We were blessed with clear skies, which made the snow-covered peaks even more magical. The snow trekking experience was exhilarating, and I loved the campsite at Brahmatal. The trek leaders were supportive, and the food was surprisingly good for a mountain trek. Highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys nature, peace, and a good challenge!
I signed up for the Brahmatal Trek expecting some peace and serenity, and that's exactly what I got. The views of the snow-covered mountains, the quiet forest paths, and the crystal-clear night skies were mesmerizing. That said, the trek is no walk in the park. The altitude and cold did take a toll on me, but it was all worth it once we reached the summit. The trek leaders were very knowledgeable and made sure we were well-prepared for the challenges. Definitely recommend it, but be ready for a physical challenge!
The Brahmatal Trek is a perfect combination of adventure, beauty, and nature. We passed through dense forests, frozen lakes, and ridgelines offering stunning views of the Himalayas. The summit on the last day was absolutely breathtaking, with 360-degree views of peaks like Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and others. The weather was unpredictable, but the team handled it well, making us feel safe and well-catered for. This trek is perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful, offbeat Himalayan experience.
The Brahmatal Trek was my first snow trek, and it was simply magical. The crisp mountain air, the pine forests covered with snow, and the picturesque campsites made the whole experience feel surreal. I went with a small group, and we all supported each other through the journey, which made it even more special. The summit, Brahmatal, was everything I hoped for and more. The trek leaders were excellent at guiding us safely and making sure we had a good time. Highly recommend this trek for those who love snow and solitude!
